The Empress of the Seas returns to Royal Caribbean and PortMiami
following a brief stint with Spanish line Pullmantur.
Virgin Cruises to Sail Out of
PortMiami in 2020
Virgin Cruises has selected PortMiami as its home port for its first
cruise ship which will set sail in 2020. The cruise line's three new
mid-size ships, of about 110,000 gross tons each, are slated for
delivery in 2020, 2021 and 2022.

GMCVB Sports Tourism Team had the privilege of speaking with sports

The International Distance Skateboard Association (IDSA) put on two
successful events in Miami this past week, hosting the 24-Hour Ultra
Skate Longboard Competition at Homestead-Miami Speedway and the Magic
City Mayhem Garage Race in the centerfield parking garage at Marlins

Board of Directors unanimously approved support of the March 15, 2016
City of Miami Beach Referendum Item #60 approving the city’s lease of
city property for a convention headquarter hotel adjacent to the
Miami Beach Convention Center on Monday, January 25, 2016. The
proposed 100 percent privately funded 800-room headquarter
hotel adjacent to the convention center is crucial to the success of
the renovation of the Miami Beach Convention Center in attracting
business and especially highly coveted citywide conventions. The
GMCVB encourages voters on Miami Beach to VOTE ‘YES’ #60.
Miami Herald Public Insight Network Convention
Center Hotel Survey
The Miami Herald’s Public Insight Network is currently running a
survey on the Convention Center Hotel. This is a wonderful
opportunity for community and industry leaders to weigh in on the
matter and share specific, individual thoughts on the issue. The
Network provides a way for the Herald to gauge public sentiment on

graduation, as well as the GMCVB’s multicultural tourism

Historian and Executive Director of the Black Archives Historic
